Tony DiCicco and SoccerPlus announce partnership
with the largest soccer coaching company in North
America!
Tony DiCicco, America’s most successful international
soccer coach of all time and founder of SoccerPlus Camps
has teamed up with renowned international soccer
coaching company Challenger Sports. DiCicco and
Challenger have created a new company that will manage
and promote the SoccerPlus Goalkeeper School and
FieldPlayer Academy youth camps at selected Colleges and
Universities around the country.
DiCicco, as coach of the USA Women won both a World Cup
Championship and an Olympic Gold Medal and in 2008 with
the USA U20 Women won a 2nd World Cup Championship. His
won-loss record 103-8-8 is the best in USA international
history. Over the past 30 years he has established SoccerPlus as the premier instructional overnight camp
program for goalkeepers and field players in the US.
The strategic partnership between DiCicco and Challenger
Sports is a relationship founded on similar ideals, a
shared passion and a commitment to provide quality
coaching for young players. Together, the two camp
programs can provide a complete range of coaching and
player development spanning ages 2 to 18 years.
"I am very excited about the opportunities that this
partnership and new company can create," says SoccerPlus
founder Tony DiCicco. “Challenger’s national platform of
camps, clinics and tournaments provides us with access
to hundreds of thousands of potential new campers. It
makes sense to combine our respective experiences and
areas of expertise and I am very proud to team up with a
company like Challenger.”
Since the early days as British Soccer Camps in 1985,
Challenger has continued to grow and adapt in response
to the rapidly evolving soccer landscape. Challenger CEO
Ron Matsch explains: “As the game grew in popularity,
local leagues, clubs and Park programs wanted more than
just a summer camp each year. Challenger quickly
responded and we became a year round support system for
players, parents and coaches. We now provide camps, year
round coaching, uniforms, tournaments, tours and
manpower for the entire soccer community and with Tony
and SoccerPlus, we have found a partner, known for
excellence, that will allow us to add one more valuable
level of instruction to our Total Soccer Company”.
DiCicco, rejoining his staff on the field in their 31st
year, said, “I am excited about getting
involved in the SoccerPlus Goalkeeper School and
FieldPlayer Academy this summer. I will bring many
lessons learned from coaching in the WPS and
Internationally and as always, I will learn a lot from
our students and staff. It’s a wonderful exchange
of information and I love the interaction.”
